You may have heard about the World Wide Web and possibly even Netscape, the software application which gives us access to the Web, but there's no substitute for being there! The World Wide Web is not really a place but is rather a layer on the Internet (millions of electronically linked computers) which supports graphics, sound and video in addition to text. Follow the directions below for a quick start.

From the Technology Exploration Center - 133 Erickson

1. Open (double click) the EH-server if it is not already open.
2. Open (double click) the "Communications" folder.
3. Open the "Netscape Navigator" folder.
4. Open Netscape Navigator
5. In the menu, click once on the "Open" button or pull down the "File" menu and select "Open Location".
6. Type http://www.educ.msu.edu/tec/ and press the return (enter) key or click the mouse once on the OK button. You should see the home page for the Technology Exploration Center, a very special place within the College of Education. TEC will be organized around different content areas so check out the different "Clubs" based on those areas and join the conversation. All you have to do is click the mouse on any text which is active (highlighted in blue or purple) and Netscape will transport you to that link.

7. If you're ready for more "Net Surfing," take a look at the College of Education home page http://www.educ.msu.edu/ for more links to educational interests. You could also explore the "Yahoo! home page" http://www.yahoo.com/ which has cool links by subjects - a great place to start!
