Broad Summer Teaching Fellows
This is your invitation to participate in a program created by MSU and Detroit Public Schools with funding from the
Broad Foundation and Michigan State University and designed to develop highly-effective urban educators
and leaders.
This program includes:
- Seven-week summer fellowship teaching opportunity
- Work with Detroit Public Schools Summer School Program or Detroit-based non-profit community entity
- In-depth exposure to Detroit Public Schools, community, and resources
- Total stipend payment of $3700.00 for fellowship experience
- Lodging, board, and transportation costs incurred by individual fellow (housing options can be
provided)
Urban Teacher Preparation Fellowship - Fellows will work in Detroit Public Schools Summer School Program. This
fellowship is designed as a classroom-based experience along with a mentor teacher.
Criteria for Application
- Current junior or senior in MSU Teacher Preparation program
- Writing sample describing commitment to urban education
- Selection preference will be given to Detroit Public Schools Graduates
- Recommendation from MSU education faculty

- Sunday, December 9, 2007 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Sunday, January 27, 2008 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
