The MDE requires documentation of teacher certification candidates having basic knowledge in reading, writing and mathematics. This can be demonstrated through the SAT Test (administered March 5, 2016 or later). For admission, submit official scores for your SAT Test: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math.
Applicants should request that scores be sent to MSU when they register for the test (https://account.collegeboard.org/login/login?idp=ECL)
Official scores are required and must be sent directly from the testing company to MSU.
Acceptable scores are 480 or higher on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 530 or higher on Mathematics. Applicants must take the entire SAT. Taking only portions of the SAT will make it impossible for us to use the results for admission to the teacher certification program.
