Faculty Awards

  • Roger G. Baldwin, professor of higher, adult and lifelong education, received a 2007 Robert J. Menges Presentation Award for faculty development research from the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network in Higher Education.
  • Mark Conley, associate professor of teacher education, was elected president of the Michigan Alliance of Reading Professors.
  • Deborah Feltz, professor and chairperson of the Department of Kinesiology, was president of the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity for the 2007-08 school year.
  • Matthew Diemer, assistant professor of counseling, is a 2007 recipient of the Emerging Scholar in K-12 Service Learning fellowship, coordinated by CIRCLE, or the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning & Engagement, at the University of Maryland.
  • Daniel Gould and Larry Lauer were named among the 100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America by the Institute for International Sport.
  • Kristen Renn, associate professor higher, adult and lifelong education, received the Outstanding Contribution to Student Affairs through Teaching Award from NASPA (the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators) Region IV-East.
  • Michelle Williams, assistant professor of teacher education, received the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program award from the National Science Foundation.
  • The Confucius Institute at Michigan State University was honored as a 2007 Confucius Institute of the Year, one of only four institutes in the United States and 20 worldwide to receive the designation, by Chinese Language Council International (or Hanban).
  • The Sports Skills Program, part of the Department of Kinesiology, received the Outstanding Sports Organization Award from Special Olympics Michigan.
  • Janet Alleman, Ann Austin and Mary Juzwik received Excellence in Teaching Award from the Michigan State University College of Education
  • Barbara Markle honored with Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators (MAISA) Education Fellows Award.
  • Deborah Feltz, Research Consortium of AAHPERD, Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport Award Lecture, 2007 Penn State Dorothy Harris Scholar Award Lecture, 2007
  • Barbara Markle, assistant dean for K-12 outreach at Michigan State University’s College of Education, will receive the Michigan Association of School Administrators (MAISA) Education Fellows Award. Markle will be honored at a June 21 luncheon during MAISA’s summer conference, held at the Doubletree Hotel in Bay City.
  • Gene Brown received an AT&T honorable mention Faculty award for his online course, KIN 856: Physical Bases of Coaching.
  • Janine Certo received 2007 Lilly Teaching Fellow
  • National Association for Sport and Physical Eucation Honors ISYS (Institute for the Study of Youth Sports) with top award
  • Michael Leahy Receives American Rehabilitation Counseling Association Research Award
  • Jere Brophy earns 2007 Thorndike Award from APA
  • Lynn Fendler, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, is a recipient of the Teacher Scholar Award.
  • Randi Nevins Stanulis, Associate Professor, Department of Teacher Education, is a recipient of the Outreach Scholarship Community Partnership Award.
  • Sonya Gunnings-Moton, Assistant Dean for Student Support Services and Recruitment is a recipient of the Excellence in Diversity Award.

Staff

  • Eric Mulvany, Administrative Assistant, is a recipient of the Jack Breslin Distinguished Staff Award.
  • Sharon Anderson Schwille, Department of Teacher Education, is a recipient of the Distinguished Academic Staff Award.

Students

  • Two doctoral students in teacher education, Annis Brown and Valencia Moses were elected to serve as AERA Graduate Student Council representatives for the 2007-08 year. Brown is a senior representative for Division L and Moses is a junior representative for Division G.
  • Amy E. Schmidt, who received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, was a recipient of a Fall 2007 Outstanding Senior Award from the MSU Senior Class Council.
  • Amy Jamison wins Fulbright Fellowship
  • Michael Sherry received the teaching assistant award for outstanding and innovative approaches to teaching demonstrated at MSU
  • Student group wins award for safe schools program
  • Kimberly S. Sieve - KIN Outstanding Master Student Award
  • Sarah A. Carson - KIN Outstanding Doctoral Student Award
  • Adam J. Bruenger - College of Education Excellence in Teaching Award
  • Kimberly S. Sieve - Ken & Kristen Zisholz Outstanding Athletic Training Graduate Student Award
  • Scott Hirko, a doctoral student in the Higher, Adult & Lifelong Education (HALE) program at MSU's College of Education, received the "MSU Graduate Student Leader Award" for 2006-2007 from the Department of Student Life.
  • Marcy Britta Wood, Graduate Assistant, Department of Teacher Education, is a recipient of the Excellence-In-Teaching Citation Award.
