Graduate Assistantships
Teaching Position: CEP 932 Quantitative Methods in Educational Research I

Semesters Offered:  Fall2007, Spring 2008

Duties/Requirements: Teaching assistants should have a working knowledge of techniques in data collection and data analysis used in educational and psychological research, graphical and tabular representation of data, and concepts of statistical inference in educational contexts. Should also be able to program in SAS or SPSS, and understand how to interpret output from either of these software programs. Teaching assistants must be able to communicate effectively and have taken and passed the SPEAK test.
Teaching assistants will hold regular weekly office hours, assist in creation and grading of course assignments, conduct a training session on SAS for students early in the semester. Teaching assistants should also be available to attend class sessions. There may be opportunity to teach a class session.

Supervising Faculty: MQM Faculty

Desired Qualifications:
Completion of CEP 932 or comparable course
Proficiency in SAS and SPSS
Teaching assistants must be able to communicate effectively and have taken and passed the SPEAK test.

Enrollment in a PhD program in the College of Education
Training: Teaching assistants will undergo an orientation session with the supervising faculty a week prior to the first day of the course.

Mentoring and Monitoring: Teaching assistants’ performance will be monitored by the supervising faculty throughout the semester and verbal feedback will be provided. A written evaluation of the teaching assistant will be provided after the end of the course.

Evaluation: Written evaluation of the teaching assistant’s performance will be provided at the end of the course.
