Teaching Position: KIN 126 Introduction to Athletic Training

Semesters Offered: Fall/Spring
Duties: Teaching duties of KIN 126, Introduction of Athletic Training.  This course is required for all candidates for the athletic training specialization and open to other KIN majors and university students.  The instructor is responsible for (1) preparing lectures, course materials, assignments and examinations; (2) providing feedback to students relative to assignments and tests; (3) planning and conducting classroom activities.

Desired Qualifications: Students who desire to teach this course must

1. Be certified as an athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification.
2. Have at least two years of post baccalaureate experience as an athletic trainer in a high school, college, professional or industrial athletic training setting..
3. Have experience as an instructor in lecture, laboratory, and testing procedures..
4. Be an Approved Clinical Instructor (ACI) as identified by the Undergraduate Athletic Training Specialization

Orientation and Training: Graduate assistants are required to attend orientation prior to the start of fall semester that includes participation in the All-University TA program.  Staff development activities include participation in in-service workshops as well as policy staff meetings throughout the academic year.

Mentoring and Monitoring: Graduate assistants are observed and evaluated at least once each semester.  Written and verbal feedback is provided after each observation.  Copies of the written evaluation, course materials, and SIRS are kept in the graduate assistants file.
