Semesters Offered: Fall/Spring
Duties: Teaching duties of KIN 445, “Sociocultural Analysis of Physical Activity”. This course is a Tier II writing requirement for all KIN majors. Content includes sociocultural context of and social practices in sport and physical activity. The instructor is responsible for (1) preparing lectures, course materials, assignments and examinations, (2) providing feedback to students relative to assignments and tests.

Desired Qualifications: Students who desire to teach this course should have: a) previous college teaching experience in Kinesiology or Physical Education; b) academic course work in graduate level aspects of Kinesiology; c) Master’s degree in Kinesiology or Physical Education; d) experience in guiding students through writing experiences; and e) experience in cooperative/collaborative learning strategies.
Orientation and Training: Graduate assistants are required to attend orientation prior to the start of fall semester that includes participation in the All-University TA program. Staff development activities include participation in in-service workshops as well as policy staff meetings throughout the academic year.
Mentoring and Monitoring: Graduate assistants are observed and evaluated at least once each semester. Written and verbal feedback is provided after each observation. Copies of the written evaluation, course materials, and SIRS are kept in the graduate assistant’s file.
