The College of Education at Michigan State University is seeking senior scholars with a focus in learning, development, teaching, learning to teach, educational reform, or urban education to provide leadership within the College of Education, conduct research and inquiry, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and collaborate with other faculty in program development and research projects. Candidates with a record of international research are encouraged to apply. Scholars with an interest in pursuing these foci within the context of a particular curricular area (e.g., mathematics, literacy/English, history, science, multicultural education, etc.) are also encouraged to apply.
Candidates should have an established record of accomplishments in research on learning, development, teaching, learning to teach, educational reform, or urban education, including leadership in funded research. Applications are welcome from candidates currently holding positions outside of higher education (in government agencies, for example), as well as from current university faculty members.
Teaching is central to the mission of MSU's College of Education; we encourage applicants with a commitment to and record of accomplished teaching. Candidates would have a primary appointment in one of the departments in the College of Education, with opportunities for joint appointments in other departments as appropriate.
Major responsibilities could include: (1) teaching undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral courses; (2) conducting innovative, rigorous research; (3) advising graduate students; (4) leading or supporting program development; (5) contributing to intra-university or school-university partnerships; or (6) collaborating with or mentoring other faculty.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate and a record of scholarly achievement in a field related to learning, development, teaching, learning to teach, educational reform, or urban education. Evidence of a capacity to contribute to the intellectual, research, and instructional life of the College and the University. Evidence of teaching excellence and of leadership in funded research projects and service, and involvement in national or international professional associations consistent with applicant's level of experience.
