2007-08: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in School Psychology

Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education
The College of Education at Michigan State University announces a new tenure stream, academic year position for a candidate of exceptional promise in our APA-accredited School Psychology program. The rank is open depending upon the candidate's record of accomplishment and leadership.   We are seeking a colleague to be part of a growing and vital Program that is committed to both research and practice in supporting the learning and development of children, youth, and families. Applicants should have a commitment to schools, a grounding in ecological theory as the basis for practice, and an interest in collaborative models of graduate training.   The MSU program has an intervention, problem-solving, and developmental orientation to practice and a commitment to excellence in scholarship. We are interested in a colleague who shares our vision for innovation in school psychology to collaborate on mental health and educational reform. We invite applications from individuals with expertise in all areas of school psychology or related areas such as child clinical psychology.  

The position in School Psychology will be in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education. MSU's College of Education offers an intellectually stimulating and vital community for scholarship and provides resources to support faculty research initiatives.   Affiliations with research centers in the college are also possible.   The appointment will begin Spring 2008 or Fall 2008.   Salary will depend upon the applicant's experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities will include:   (1) graduate teaching; (2) engagement in an active research program; (3) participation in democratic governance of the program; (4) supervision of doctoral dissertations, and (5) clinical supervision.

Minimal Qualifications:   (1) earned doctorate in school psychology from an APA accredited program or related area; (2) eligibility for certification as a school psychologist and/or licensure as a psychologist in the State of Michigan; (3) evidence of scholarly productivity; 4) prior experience as a school psychologist or professional psychologist.   Experience in securing external funding is highly desirable for candidates at the junior rank, necessary for those at the senior rank.
