The College of Education at Michigan State University is seeking an Academic Specialist to serve as Coordinator of the College’s Office of Student Affairs. The duties of the coordinator include the following:
- Provide guidance to advisors of undergraduate and post-BA teacher certification candidates and advise students directly. Advise candidates for advanced teacher certification, and prospective graduate students as necessary. Liaison with advisors and administrators concerning college, university and State Department of Education policies and procedures.
- Manage student information pertinent to academic matters of undergraduate and graduate students for the College including, enrollment, admission to limited enrollment programs, changes of major, minors, and/or certification, advisement, withdrawal and readmission, academic standards for university students, and academic progress toward degree or certification. Respond to state, federal, university and external requests for data. Manage admissions process for teacher education programs. Supervise support staff.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean including representing the College to employers/recruiters and serve on committees or advisory groups.
Qualifications:
PhD preferred, Master’s degree required in higher education, measurement and quantitative methods or other relevant area. At least five years of professional experience required with preference given to candidates with prior experience in student affairs, data management, and knowledge of teacher certification program requirements, advising and supervision of staff.
