The Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State
University is seeking outstanding candidates for anticipated
fixed-term (non-tenure stream) faculty positions in support of
our teacher preparation and master's degree programs. These are
primarily part-time positions with the possibility that some may
be full time (one year appointments) based upon applicant
qualifications and program needs. Primary responsibilities may
be at the East Lansing campus, or at one of our off-campus sites
in the Detroit area, Grand Rapids or Traverse City.
Responsibilities may include some combination of the
following: teaching preservice or master's level courses in
subject matter pedagogy, learners and learning, special education,
social contexts of education and diversity, professional
inquiry/action research, curriculum development and integration, or
foundational studies in education; working with teaching interns and
their collaborating teachers during a year-long internship required
for initial teacher certification; and assisting with the
administration of the teacher preparation program.
Required Qualifications: an advanced degree in a relevant
field (a doctorate is preferred, but outstanding candidates with a
master's degree and exceptional experience will be considered),
appropriate K-12 teaching and school experience or relevant
college-level teaching; evidence of scholarly and professional
contributions such as through professional publication and
scholarship, presentations at professional meetings, contributions
to state/national professional associations, and leadership in
regional or national professional development or curriculum
projects.
Positions' ranks will be at the level of assistant instructor,
instructor or assistant professor, depending on qualifications.
Appointments may be for one or more semesters beginning Fall 2008.
