RE: Erickson Construction information #1

Dear faculty, staff and graduate students: 

We are pleased to announce that the contract for construction of the addition to Erickson Hall was awarded to Irish Construction and approved at the January 13 Board of Trustees meeting. We are underway and will try to provide you with updates as we learn information from the contractor and MSU.  Following the advice of the Department Chairs, the periodic messages will go to everyone on the colleges lists, and will be marked as Erickson Construction, so you know about the content.  We will also post on the colleges web site. 

Briefly, here is what we learned yesterday. Please contact me or Eric Mulvany if you have questions or comments.  Actual contractor start dates depend on certain permits, frost etc. 

• Construction work hours are generally between 7 am and 3:30 pm. 
• Mobilization, site work and fencing will begin now- Feb 6
  • The loop drive in front of Erickson will be closed off from the east to accommodate the construction site. Only deliveries will be allowed entry via Farm Lane. 
• Demolition of advising offices in SAO will begin approximately Feb 13. Anticipate noise with this demolition.  
  • The advisers are moving within the next 2 weeks to room 130 Erickson. The front office of SAO will remain as is until we do some remodel in summer. Joan Smith will remain in 134.
  • Room 130 Erickson will not be available for conferences or class groups until the construction of the addition is substantially completed. 
• The date for substantial completion of the addition is December 12, 2006. That is, we expect to move into the space then. Some external work, grounds etc may be completed after winter 06-07, that is up to June 12, 2007.
