Measuring Creativity

Creativity has been defined as the goal-driven process of constructing something (like a poem, a scientific theory, a mouse trap, a musical composition, etc.) that is novel, effective, and whole.

But, how do we measure creativity?

Turns out psychologists and social scientists have been attempting to answer these questions for a while. Deep-Play Research Group in the College of Education at the Michigan State University analyzed all the existing measures of creativity on the PsycTESTS database. Out of over 200 existing measures, 83 were found to be measuring creativity, either by measuring the process or the product.

Using these measure, the Deep-Play Research Groupcr eated this website that allows you to search and see a wide range of available creativity assessments (as categorized by the PsycTESTS database).
