Purpose is to encourage outstanding scholars to enter teaching, primarily in the fields lacking full diversity and/or with a shortage of qualified teachers, and to contribute to research that will enhance teaching and learning. The ultimate goal of this scholarship is to help to produce scholars who can further encourage outstanding scholarship among young people, regardless of background, so that they can achieve their full potential and are able to contribute to the expansion of knowledge and the betterment of mankind.
