Ambassadors are current Ph.D. students who are available to answer your questions about the HALE program, Michigan State University, living in the Greater Lansing area, and transitioning to doctoral studies. Kayon Hall, MBA

Kayon is a full time third-year Ph.D. student in the HALE program. Before attending MSU, Hall worked in higher education as an administrator in student affairs for eight years. Her most recent position was at The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, where she served as the Associate Director of Careers Services. Currently, Hall serves as a departmental graduate assistant for the HALE unit. In this capacity, she focuses on outreach, recruitment, and retention for all HALE graduate students. Through the use of critical and cultural theories and methodologies, Hall’s research focuses on Black immigrants, popular culture, and race.

Levi Shanks, M.Ed.

Levi is a second year full-time student in the HALE Ph.D. program. He holds bachelor's degrees in political science and Spanish from the University of Louisville, and a master's degree in college student affairs administration from the University of Georgia. Prior to MSU, Levi worked as an administrator at various institutions across the country including Philadelphia University, Bellarmine University, and the University of California, Berkeley. Immediately before coming to MSU, Levi served as the Assistant Dean of Students at Dominican University of California in San Rafael, CA. During his first two years in HALE, he held a departmental assistantship for Education Administration, where he worked with student outreach, recruitment, and retention for all HALE graduate students. Levi's research interests generally relate to institutional knowledge management, human crisis in education, and accountability and accreditation.
