Master of Arts in K-12 Educational Administration - Detroit Area Program

Beginning Fall 2014

For 2014-2015, we continue to develop the K-12 Educational Administration Masters program in Detroit,  at the MSU Detroit Center located at 3408 Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Our Detroit program will include the same course requirements as our two existing programs in East Lansing and Birmingham, but will integrate an urban focus by attending to issues of particular importance for urban school leaders. Among the issues integrated into the coursework will be strategies for dealing with high-stakes accountability in low-performing schools, creating change in a large district, implementing and leading dropout prevention efforts, and working with specific populations of students who are enrolled in urban schools in high numbers including English language learners, low-income students, and students of color. Courses will also address tools for responding to student and family needs and establishing community partnerships.

These courses will be offered in face-to face, online and hybrid (partly face-to-face and partly online) formats. All courses meet in the evenings to accommodate the working schedules of students. (Detroit program plan)
