Years of Achievement: A short History of the College of Education

As the College of Education celebrates its 50th anniversary, we excerpt in this issue some passages from the recently published Years of Achievement:
A Short History of the College of Education at Michigan State University
. The excerpts are in chronological order beginning with the early years for education at Michigan Agricultural College and concluding with Dean Carole Ames and her efforts to build a strong technological infrastructure in the college. (The fall issue had a chapter on the Erickson years of the 1950s so that period is not referenced here. In addition, the Fall 1998 issue dealt with the Department of Kinesiology on its 100th anniversary so these excerpts focus on other areas of the college.)

We hope that you will enjoy reading the various excerpts, and that it will prompt you to reconnect with the college by joining the alumni association, or by attending one of the events that we have planned in coming months, or by simply ordering a copy of the book. You
