About our Programs  

MSU's College of Education is one of the leading colleges in the nation for pursuing a career in education and serves as a model for other programs of professional education.

For the thirteenth consecutive year, the 2008 U.S. News and World Report ranking of 277 graduate schools of education rated our elementary and secondary education programs as the best in the United States. In all, the college had eight graduate programs ranked in the top 10. The program in Rehabilitation Counseling was ranked # 1. Curriculum and Instruction was ranked #2. The program in Higher Education Administration#4, Educational Psychology was ranked #4, Educational Policy #10 and Administration/Supervision were ranked #8. Overall, the college was ranked 14th among the nation's 277 graduate education programs.

The College of Education is made up of four departments, Teacher Education; Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education; Kinesiology; and Educational Administration. The first two are involved in the preparation of teachers and Kinesiology students may choose to obtain a teaching certificate or other career focus. Educational Administration offers graduate programs only.
