Higher and adult education can be pursued in two ways. The master's degree in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education (HALE) prepares individuals for entry-level leadership positions in post-secondary educational institutions, and public and private sector agencies. It deepens understanding of diverse educational systems; central issues of teaching and learning; practical application of administrative and organizational principles; key concepts in staff development and organizational leadership; and opportunities for clinical experiences.

The HALE doctoral program is for individuals pursuing careers as administrators, faculty, researchers, or policymakers in a variety of post-secondary educational organizations. Common coursework in administration and governance, teaching and curriculum, student learning and development, and post-secondary policy constitute core learning experiences, emphasizing the complex, multifaceted nature of post-secondary education. Students are then able to concentrate on diversity and equity, leadership, organizational change, and adult learning.
