Research in the College of Education

Research from the MSU College of Education continually shapes the world’s understandings about teaching, learning and physical activity. Faculty members study the most critical problems in education and kinesiology, and they work closely with both policymakers and practitioners to ensure their findings make a difference where it really matters.

International Research and Scholars

From small-scale projects to lasting research centers with millions of dollars in funding, the college is home to a diverse and vibrant community of scholars that values collaboration, especially across disciplinary boundaries. Researchers know their work must extend beyond campus and also beyond the nation, seeking out ways to enhance learning and development for all children, teachers and adults around the world.

The College of Education is home to many dynamic centers and institutes, each generating a rich collection of research, teaching and outreach efforts.
Research efforts examine major issues in teacher and administrator preparation, content areas such as literacy, mathematics and science and matters of physical activity across the lifespan.
The Institute for Research on Teaching and Learning (IRTL) assists faculty and graduate students throughout the process for obtaining outside research funding.
College of Education faculty members serve as investigators on active research grants representing millions of dollars from public and private funders.
Graduate and undergraduate students in the College of Education have chances to collaborate with faculty on research through assistantships and other scenarios.
