Juniors
Students who have been admitted to the Teacher Education program are assigned to teams of faculty who guide the coursework, field placements and professional development of the prospective teachers.
Scholarship applications are available in December and due in January. Scholarships will be awarded at the Spring Awards Presentation, April 15, 2007.
Students with a grade point average of 3.5 or above are invited to membership in Kappa Delta Pi, the education honorary.
Seniors

Michigan Association of Colleges for Teacher Education has a scholarship competition for which our students may apply through their teams.
Kappa Delta Pi membership offered to seniors who have not been invited previously, who now meet the membership requirements. Detailed information is given to each senior in the Fall and Spring semesters regarding their status relative to qualifying to intern teach the following Fall.
The College invites Fall 2006 graduates and their families to a reception on Friday, December 8, 2006, 4:30 PM, in Erickson Hall.
College of Education Undergraduate Commencement - Spring (May 4, 2007)
All elementary and secondary education and Kinesiology graduates and their families will be invited to a reception immediately following the commencement ceremony.
Note: Graduation applications must be submitted to the Office of Registrar by the first week of the semester that degree requirements are being completed. Applications must be received by these dates in order for the candidate's name to appear in the University Commencement booklet.
Interns
Kappa Delta Pi membership is offered to interns who have not been previously invited, who now meet the membership requirements.
Michigan Association of Teacher Educators runs a competition for the Outstanding Student Teacher. Interns may apply through their teams.
Teams host receptions at end of year (April) for students completing the internship.
Information session on Michigan Teacher Certification is provided including information about applications for Michigan provisional, out-of-state certification, additional endorsements and graduate programs.
The College of Education Alumni Association and the College of Education host a Homecoming Reception two hours before the Homecoming Game. This tent party for alumnae provides free food and music by the College band (Saturday, September 30, 2006).
The College of Education Alumni Association offers a workshop on resume writing and interviewing, including mock interview opportunities with actual school personnel, in late winter or early spring in Erickson Hall. "Get a Job for Interns" March, 2007
Teacher Fair will be held in Lansing Center on April 19, 2007. The MSU Career Services and Placement Office organizes this event which draws school districts from across the country.
Interns are encouraged to put their Intern Profile on the College Web site. Employers can review information about prospective employees on line and link to prospective teacher's resumes and homepages.
Job announcements are posted on a kiosk in Erickson Hall and are also sent to the MSU Career Placement and Services Office for posting on Monstertrak.
All Students
The College of Education and the College of Education Alumni Association will conduct the 22nd Annual Technology Conference on February 3, 2007 in Erickson Hall. All students, teachers, alumnae, and friends of the College are invited to participate in this all day event focused on teaching and learning with technology. There is a small registration charge.
Letters of congratulation are sent to students who make the Dean's List (semester grade point average of 3.5 or above).
The Kinesiology Undergraduate Student Organization is open to membership for all students in the Kinesiology Department. Their activities include professional development, fundraising, philanthropy and social events.
Phi Epsilon Kappa Fraternity is the Kinesiology student association for students pursuing careers in physical education, health, recreation, or safety. Students are offered membership as early as their freshman year.
The Council for Exceptional Children is the Special Education Student Organization. This organization hosts special speakers and seeks to serve and learn about special needs students.
The minority student organization, Tomorrow's Educators for the Advancement of Minorities (TEAM), seeks to recruit minority students into teaching and supports minority students in the program.
The College provides a comprehensive Student Handbook on program requirements.
The College Web site includes program requirements, current events and speakers within the College; broad-based information regarding certification in other states, etc.
Professionally trained advisors provide comprehensive services regarding academic requirements, program admissions, referrals to other University services, career planning, Michigan Teacher certification process, volunteer and paid opportunities to work with children, etc.
Honors College Advisor in the College of Education who helps tailor programs for Honors College students in education.
Technology Guides offer workshops on teaching with technology throughout the year.
