| Recipients shall be admitted students in the College of Education at the junior, senior, or post-baccalaureate level (intern year) who have at least a 3.7 GPA and are pursuing a degree in elementary, secondary, or special education with the intention of becoming a classroom teacher.
Recipients shall be selected based on: demonstration of such personal qualities as: initiative, leadership, resourcefulness and enthusiasm for teaching as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
In applying for this award, the candidate will present an essay (500 word maximum) detailing, his or her reasons for wanting to enter the teaching profession, volunteer or work experiences related to teaching, tutoring, mentoring or other activities in which the candidate has interacted with children or adolescents and other life experiences which the candidate deems pertinent.
Three letters of recommendation or equivalent, at least two of which are from current or former teachers.
