Roy K. Niemeyer Award
This award is given annually to an undergraduate student, at the junior or senior level, majoring in Kinesiology (physical education and exercise science). Eligible recipients will be those students with a 3.0 or above scholastic average, who have a background in scouting, camping or other activities involving outdoor education.  To be eligible for this award, students should submit a one page statement addressing their outdoor experiences and one letter of support or recommendation.

About Roy Niemeyer
Roy K. Niemeyer was a member of the physical education faculty at Michigan State University from 1948 through 1985.  He was an avid outdoorsman and taught the skills of camping, hunting, fishing, survival, and a love for the outdoors.  He was Director of the Outdoor Education Project in the late 1970s and hosted a National Conference on Outdoor Education in 1980.  He also spent two years in Africa assisting the University of Nigeria in planning and implementing a program of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics.
