"Extracurricular Activities and Youth Developmental Gains - Team Versus Individual Sport Effects"

Our speaker, Dr. David Hansen, is from the University of Kansas. He received his doctoral degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana. Dr. Hansen's research focuses on adolescent development in non-formal settings, including out-of-school activities and employment along with the processes of real-world decision-making and initiative. He is the co-developer of the Youth Experiences Survey, which is a measure that is being increasingly used to assess the developmental gains that young people report from their participation in out-of-school activities. Dr. Hansen's research is published in journals such as the Journal of Research on Adolescence, Human Development, Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology, and Developmental Psychology.
