College Welcomes New faculty

Michael Battista (Ph.D., Purdue University), comes to msu after distinguished service as a professor of mathematics education in the College of Education at Kent State University. He is a recognized expert on research concerning the learning and teaching of geometry. His primary research interest is in the cognitive processes by which students construct mathematical meaning.
David Fortus (Ph.D., University of Michigan), is a former high school physics teacher who taught in Israel for six years. He joins the Department of Teacher Education from the University of Michigan, where he completed his doctorate. His research deals with the use of design as a vehicle through which scientific knowledge and real world problem-solving skills can be constructed.
Nathalie Sinclair (Ph.D., Queens University), has a joint appointment in the College of Natural Sciences and the College of Education. She comes to msu from Simon Fraser University in Canada, where she was a post-doctoral fellow and part of the research team at the Centre for Experimental and Constructive Mathematics.

Matthew Wawrzynski (Ph.D., University of Maryland), comes to msu after serving as an American Education Research Association Research Fellow. As an aera fellow, he was a visiting scholar at Indiana University’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. His research focuses on transitional experiences of college students, and student access to higher education.
